ABOUT US
Origin and Establishment
Social Vision Microfinance Co., Ltd was originally founded as Social Vision Services (NGO) in 2013 under License No. 0170/2013. The organization began its microfinance project in January 2014 in Wundwin Township, Mandalay Region, with the technical and financial support of LIFT and Pact (MARC). The initial goal was to promote rural development, poverty reduction, and food security through microfinance services.
The project objectives were twofold:
-
- - To provide loans to rural households for small businesses and income-generating activities, thereby increasing household income and improving living standards.
-
- - To establish community-based organizations that could become self-reliant, independently managed, and sustainable in the long run.
For project implementation, LIFT contributed financial support, while PACT (PGMF) provided technical assistance. The total initial capital amounted to US$ 554,298 (equivalent to MMK 584,470,783), transferred to CB Bank Account No. 0010100500003557. With continuous financial and technical backing from LIFT, PACT, and collaboration with nine partner organizations, the project achieved its targets successfully.
Following government requirements that NGOs engaged in microfinance must transition into registered companies, Social Vision Services applied for company registration with DICA in 2017. It was initially formed with both Organization and BOD shares. Later, in 2019, shareholding was restructured, making Social Vision Services the sole 100% shareholder of Social Vision Microfinance Co., Ltd.
In 2020, the organization officially returned its NGO microfinance license (0170/2013) and continued operations under the company structure as Social Vision Microfinance Co., Ltd. An Asset Disposition Letter was issued in September 2020 by LIFT and Pact, confirming that 100% of the project’s funds were to be recognized as the investment of Social Vision Services into the newly established company.
